Ed Tussey introduced his first limited edition print series in 1985, which has gained considerable acclaim since then, with many editions now sold out. Ed’s original works and reproductions grace galleries, museums, and private collections across Alaska, the contiguous United States, Canada, and beyond.
Before making Homer their permanent home in 1997, Ed and Jacki welcomed two daughters into their family: Rachel in 1987 while living in Kodiak, and Rheanna in 1993 while residing in Soldotna. Ed, an amazing individual with a wide range of skills, was devoted to passing on his knowledge to his daughters, teaching them about subsistence fishing, carpentry, car repair, and the importance of hard work and play.

Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, residents of Homer enjoy a tranquil lifestyle amidst the rugged beauty. The community exudes a sense of warmth and hospitality. Born in Ketchikan, Alaska, on Oct. 14, 1959, Ed spent part of his early years in Northern California before moving to Kodiak, Alaska, at the age of 10 with his late father. Ed’s wife, Jacquelyn Tussey, steered him towards a more assured future. Since they fell in love as high school sweethearts in 1978 and married on Jan. 16, 1982, Ed and Jacki set off together on what would turn out to be the journey of a lifetime. Ed left behind 20 years of commercial fishing to pursue his dream of being an artist. Tussey’s Fine Arts in debuted in 1985, marking the start of Ed’s most creative years. Through his limited edition prints and exhibitions, he gained recognition both nationally and locally.
As a recipient of national and state awards, Ed commits himself fully as an independent artist, capturing the splendor of Alaska’s landscapes, coastal vistas, and diverse wildlife on canvas. Living on the Kenai Peninsula in Homer, Alaska, where they raised their daughters, Ed and his wife were part of the local community.
Enthusiasts of Ed Tussey’s art are captivated by his true to life portray of birds, mammals, and marine life in their natural environments. His paintings of Alaska’s wildlife is rooted in years of firsthand observation in the wilderness and along the coast. His background in art and oceanography studies during his college years in Washington State, complements his extensive field experience in remote wilderness areas and navigating the coastal waters of Alaska, the Pacific Ocean, and the Bering Sea.
Alaskan artist Edwin M. Tussey passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2024, in Homer, Alaska, at 64 years old, after a short battle with advanced prostate cancer and esophageal cancer. Ed left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He lived life through his unwavering dedication and passion for his craft. His legacy lives on through his art and the people he influenced.
